Our Vessel "Aranji"
1965 48' Custom William Lapworth design Aluminum Cutter
(Winner of the 1968 Transpac!)
"Aranji" has had a rich and eventful sailing career as one of the premier big boat racing yachts in the California fleet during the 1960s and 1970s. She won 1st place overall in the 1968 Transpac from LA to Tahiti and was a featured boat in Diane Beeston's classic sailing photography book "Of Wind Fog and Sail" She was built by Yacht Dynamics of Torrance California. This was one of Donald Douglas's companies (of McDonnell Douglas Aircraft) the designer of many famous Aluminum Aircraft. The Aluminum construction is of the highest standard.  She sails like dream and is fast yet extremely comfortable and stable. Her accommodations are more of a luxury yacht of the period as apposed to the stripped down racing vessels of more recent years.  She is a delight to sail and to stay aboard.
